Often, the moments we want to remember the most end up being the blurry shots we end up having to delete–moving friends, family, kids, and pets–phones of the past have struggled to do these moments justice.

With Find X8 Series, we set out to transform the way moments are captured. Through breakthroughs in hardware and computational photography and by deeply integrating AI into our imaging pipeline, we created a new solution: Lightning Snap.

Find X8 and Find X8 Pro shoot with an imperceptible shutter lag for instant capture, and when you hold down the shutter button, Lightning Snap activates a quality burst. For the first time, users can truly capture split-second moments with all the vividness and clarity of a posed shot.

Shoot Fast without Compromise

In theory, burst photos are perfect for fleeting moments. In reality, however, smartphones often sacrifice image quality and advanced processing due to hardware limitations. With Lightning Snap, we change the formula with breakthrough computational photography.

As soon as you open the camera, Find X8 Series automatically uses on-device AI to analyse the scene at a pixel level. When a moving subject is detected, it instantly optimises settings like autofocus and boosts shutter speed.

This happens before you press the shutter. So when you long-press the shutter, the phone captures up to seven photos per second, letting you catch each subtle movement, including those perfect, in-between moments. And if you want to max out your burst, you can capture up to 200 shots without any drop in photo quality.

With Instant Dual Exposure, Find X8 Series captures both a short exposure with an ultra-fast shutter speed to freeze motion and a long exposure to gather more light for enhanced image quality. By merging these two frames in real-time, it produces a sharp, high-quality image free from motion blur, even in challenging lighting conditions.

But the magic of Lightning Snap happens in processing with Off-Peak Computing Architecture.

Unlike traditional smartphone cameras, which require the previous photo processing to be completed before capturing the next shot, Off-Peak Computing Architecture separates capture and processing. So, while you're snapping away, the heavy processing work happens quietly in the background, ensuring the camera never misses a beat.

As a result, each of these seven frames per second is fully processed by our HyperTone Image Engine, combining up to nine raw shots into one and delivering crisp, vibrant burst photos. With Lightning Snap, every frame is a keeper.

So how is Lightning Snap made possible? This demanding processing requires cutting-edge power, and that's where the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset and its powerful ISP and NPU comes in.

Zero Shutter Lag

Find X8 Series' brand new Off-Peak Computing Architecture is integrated into our imaging pipeline, enhancing not only Lightning Snap but also the overall photo-taking experience.

By allowing the shutter and processing to operate independently, shutter lag is virtually eliminated on Find X8 Series. And because this is achieved at the core of the imaging pipeline, zero shutter lag applies across every camera on both Find X8 and X8 Pro.

Quick Button

When trying to capture a quick shot on your phone, launching the camera in time is half the battle. That's why we introduced the Quick Button on Find X8 Pro, a faster way to snap your shot.

With a double-tap of the Quick Button, the camera opens in a lightning-fast 0.4 seconds. A single tap snaps a photo instantly, and holding the button down activates Lightning Snap for high-speed bursts.

In the near future, Find X8 Pro will be updated for even faster snapping, with the Quick Button set to both launch and capture a shot with a double tap, making it faster than ever to seize that perfect moment.
