On December 14th, OPPO kicked off its annual flagship event, INNO DAY 2021, to celebrate the debut of its cutting-edge Imaging NPU, the OPPO Air Glass, and the OPPO Find N foldable smartphone. While in the meantime, there are more surprising technology breakthroughs you’d never want to miss.
Unleash the power of smartphone photography
Camera phones brought a new age where we can instantly record every moment of life with ease, anywhere, anytime. Even though, as time goes by, camera features have nowadays become indispensable to a smartphone, not all customer needs are yet satisfied as the technology still has room for improvement.
A larger sensor provides better image quality but requires a thicker lens, which is hard for thin smartphones these days. Adopting a retractable mechanism, the OPPO Retractable Camera provides an equivalent focal length of 52 mm (2X Optical zoom) when the camera extends, allowing for a large 1/1.56-inch SONY IMX766 sensor to be housed. It supports optical image stabilization (OIS), auto-focus(AF)and is flush with the rest of the camera module when retracted.
In addition, OPPO Retractable Camera takes just 0.6s to fully retract for drop protection and is also splash and dust resistant, making it a practical solution to bringing a high-end telephoto lens to smartphone.
What is the “true full-view display”?
In recent years, the entire smartphone industry has been revolutionized by customer needs for phones with higher screen-to-body ratio and new smartphone form factor.
As early as 2018, OPPO began research and development of its under-screen camera (USC) technology, with three generations of USC technology having been developed to date. Today, OPPO is announcing its next-generation under-screen camera solution, delivering both high display image and camera quality through innovations in hardware and OPPO’s proprietary algorithms.
Here are the core advantages of OPPO USC:
● Innovative pixel geometry: Slightly shrink the size of each pixel without decreasing the number of pixels to ensure a 400-PPI high-quality display even in the camera area.
● Consistent full-screen display accuracy: With each pixel circuit driving only 1 pixel (“1-to-1”), the chromaticity and brightness of the entire screen can be precisely controlled with a deviation of about 2%.
● Proprietary AI image algorithms: OPPO continues to train its AI diffraction reduction model using tens of thousands of photos, allowing it to accurately model the diffraction and apply compensation to images.
Reimaging the future with OPPO Digital Human
One of the most exciting things disruptively changing our perceptions is that nowadays the digital characters have adopted their own personalities. Emotionally intelligent as we are, could be both professional, sometimes even a bit transactional, at work, and kind while at home with kids. So does OPPO Digital Human!
OPPO Digital Human is OPPO's self-developed hyper-realistic virtual character technology that can talk, move, and interact like a real person. Integrating AI capabilities such as semantic recognition, feature recognition, voice synthesis, lip-syncing, and dynamic expressions, OPPO Digital Human can replicate up to 30 different kinds of facial patterns and expressions, making user interaction more realistic and immersive.
In addition to being able to communicate verbally and through emotive expressions, OPPO Digital Human can also "see" real humans. Based on visual recognition, it can act as a virtual fitness coach and take on more tasks in the future, such as livestream host or customer service representative.
Meet the incredible virtual world with OPPO CybeReal 2.0
Have you tried AR shopping or virtual fitting online? Seen as a bridge between physical and digital commerce, AR technology significantly levels up our experiences. A future where everyone can create and play in their own mixed reality worlds is just around the corner, but effectively realizing the fusion of physical and virtual worlds requires the development of a new application.
Powered by OPPO's latest spatial computing and positioning technologies, OPPO CybeReal 2.0 can provide highly accurate position and orientation in regard to the physical environment with a high interference tolerance but low power consumption. It is achieved by collecting environmental data and building a virtual replica of the real-world using smartphone cameras, Bluetooth® sensors, etc.
The new generation of OPPO CybeReal 2.0 has big potentials for developing AR experience and smart navigation systems in the future.
Powered by 5G SA network, remote driving is coming to us
What latency improvements can we expect from today’s 5G networks? What powerful performance can we experience with a 5G racing game? At INNO DAY 2021, OPPO brings the latest 5G remote reality racing game to the public.
5G Remote Racing is an ongoing research project between OPPO and Ericsson exploring killer 5G applications. Through 5G Remote Racing, players can remotely control a high-power RC car via 5G SA networks with OPPO 5G smartphones, experiencing the thrill of 70km/h racing anytime and anywhere. 5G Remote Racing fully utilizes the low latency and large bandwidth of 5G SA networks to achieve a minimum latency of 10ms, creating a unified connection between driver and car.
OPPO believes that when 5G has enough coverage and capacity, the killer apps that the industry has been looking forward to will quickly develop across many different areas and bring unexpected innovation to consumers.
